The Basilica of the Sagrada Família, the Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family, has been under construction in Barcelona since 1882. A year later Antoni Gaudí took over the work, devoting the rest of his life to it, and he is buried in its crypt. In 2010 Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the church and gave it the title of minor basilica.
