Flüeli-Ranft is a small village in the canton of Obwalden, in central Switzerland. Here lived Nicholas of Flüe (1417-1487), a farmer, husband of Dorothea and father of ten children. At about the age of 50, with his wife's consent, he chose the life of a hermit in the nearby Ranft gorge, where he spent the last 20 years of his life.

Pilgrims visit his birthplace and the house where he lived with his family, then walk down to the Ranft, to the hermit's cell and chapels. Brother Klaus, as the Swiss call him, was a respected counsellor and helped preserve peace between the cantons. Canonised in 1947, he is the patron of Switzerland and is honoured by Christians of other denominations too. His grave is in nearby Sachseln.

The memorial of Saint Nicholas of Flüe is celebrated in Switzerland on 25 September. The nearest larger city is Lucerne.
