Saint Anne's Mountain is a hill in Opole Silesia with a Franciscan friary and the Basilica of Saint Anne. In the 18th century a Calvary with several dozen chapels and a Lourdes grotto was built here. The place also has historical significance: in 1921 battles of the Third Silesian Uprising were fought here.
Pilgrims come to the late Gothic statue of Saint Anne with Mary and the Child Jesus. For centuries the sanctuary has gathered faithful speaking Polish, German and Silesian, and in 1983 it was visited by Saint John Paul II. Many pray the Calvary paths here.
The main feast celebrations take place around the memorial of Saint Anne on 26 July. Saint Anne's Mountain is about 40 km from Opole; check the programme of Calvary feasts in advance.
