Kalwaria Pacławska is a village in the Przemyśl Foothills, near the border with Ukraine. In the 17th century a Calvary was founded here and the sanctuary was entrusted to the Franciscans. Numerous chapels of the paths of the Passion and of Our Lady are scattered over the surrounding hills.
Pilgrims come to meditate on the Passion of Christ along the Calvary paths and to pray before the miraculous image of Our Lady of Kalwaria in the friary church. The place attracts visitors with its silence and landscape, which favour retreats and personal prayer.
The largest celebrations take place during Holy Week, when Passion mysteries are held, and in August, during the feast of the Assumption. The nearest larger city is Przemyśl; check the programme before travelling.
