Ta' Pinu Basilica stands among fields near the village of Għarb on the island of Gozo. It was built in the first half of the 20th century on the site of an older, small chapel, which was incorporated into the new church. The church holds the title of basilica and is Malta's national Marian shrine.

Pilgrims are drawn by the image of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and by the tradition of Karmni Grima, a local woman who in 1883 heard a voice in the chapel calling her to prayer. Numerous votive offerings in the corridors bear witness to graces for which the faithful give thanks. Pope John Paul II visited the shrine in 1990, and Pope Francis prayed here in 2022.

Gozo is reached by ferry from Malta, and the basilica lies not far from Victoria, the island's capital. Before travelling, it is worth checking the current schedule of services on the shrine's official website.
